Scott Cavanah was born in 1973 in Burlington, Iowa into a family of educators. While in high school, a friend urged him to pick up a camera. It’s been all downhill from then. He received an Associate in Science degree from Southeastern Community College and then went on to complete a Interdisciplinary Studies degree from Iowa State University.

After graduation, he took a position as assistant for photographer King Au in Des Moines, Iowa. He worked with Au for two years on editorial assignments all over the country. From 1999 – 2002 he lived and worked in Brussels, Belgium. Scott completed a Master of Fine Arts with a concentration in Photography from Bradley University in 2004.

He and his family currently live in Peoria, Illinois. Scott exhibits his work regionally, does assignment work for various publications and is an Instructor in the Department of Interactive Media at Bradley University.
