Scott Cavanah was born in 1973 in Burlington, Iowa into a family of educators. While in high school, a friend urged him to pick up a camera. It’s been all downhill from then. He received an Associate in Science degree from Southeastern Community College and then went on to complete a Interdisciplinary Studies degree from Iowa State University.

After graduation, he took a position as assistant for photographer King Au in Des Moines, Iowa. He worked with Au for two years on editorial assignments all over the country. From 1999 – 2002 he lived and worked in Brussels, Belgium. Scott completed a Master of Fine Arts with a concentration in Photography from Bradley University in 2004.

He and his family currently live in Peoria, Illinois. Scott exhibits his work regionally, does assignment work for various publications and is a full-time Instructor in the Department of Interactive Media at Bradley University.
